Usagi Tsukino. A girl who had always been known to be… a bit more immature than the friends she surrounded herself with. She had been known to whine when she didn’t get her way, her interests often leaned on the childish side, and she had a habit of depending on others to get things done for her. For most people, they just figured the girl had never grown up, and that her childish habits were a result of possibly being spoiled. However, that was far from the truth. For you see, there was another, far more interesting reason as to why Usagi was the way that she was…

Usagi was currently sleeping in her room, having a nice rest and sweet dreams. But you see, she wasn’t exactly sleeping in a normal bed. Instead, she was sleeping in a crib, purchased for her a long time ago. She wore a pastel pink onesie with cartoonish bunny designs dotted across the fabric, and a plain white diaper around her waist. She showed no signs of waking up soon, and likely would’ve slept the day away if it wasn’t for the sudden entrance of someone into her room.

This someone was Rei Hino, Usagi’s longtime friend. But Rei wasn’t just Usagi’s friend, she was also one of the girl’s caretakers. Rei was always the one who had to wake Usagi up, because the girl got rather cranky every time she was awoken. “Usagi-chan, it’s time to wake up. You have things to do outside the house today.”

The girl muttered something underneath her breath, and rolled herself so she was facing away from Rei. Of course, Rei wasn’t having any of this, and walked over to Usagi’s crib, lowering the bars and picking her up so she would be forced to get up.

“Come on, Usagi-chan. You don’t have a choice. You have to get up.” Rei said, setting the girl on the ground.

Once she was placed down, Usagi quickly began to whine. “But I don’t wanna…! Why do I have to go out and do stuff? You’re my caretaker, you should go do my stuff for me!”

Rei sighed, and shook her head. “I told you that you have to do this yourself. You’ve been cooped up in this house for too long, and you need to get out into the real world for once, before you get any more immature than you already are.”

With a sigh, Usagi knew that she couldn’t really argue on this point, so she just decided to go along with what Rei said. Once she saw that Usagi was going to accept the fact that she had to go out, Rei began to undress the girl, staring by unbuttoning her onesie. Upon doing this, Usagi’s diaper sagged down a bit, showing that it was surprisingly wet. With another sigh and shake of her head, Rei looked at Usagi with a bit of a disappointed look.

“You have too many accidents in your sleep, Usagi-chan. You need to get better about this.” She said before carrying the girl to the changing table and laying her down.

“But I’m supposed to be a baby, Rei-chan! Aren’t babies supposed to use their diapers?” Usagi protested, crossing her arms and pouting. Rei decided not to respond, and just got to work cleaning the girl up. She threw away Usagi’s wet diaper, wiped her up, and placed a new one underneath her, powdering her diaper area before taping the new one up snugly.

Upon getting off the changing table, Usagi looked down at her new diaper with a confused expression. “Uh, I thought I was supposed to be going out today… Why did you put me in another diaper?” The blonde-haired girl asked.

Walking over to Usagi’s closet and getting out clothes for her, Rei shrugged. “So that if you have an accident, you don’t end up totally embarrassing yourself. Key word being totally, because it’d probably still be embarrassing.” She said before handing Usagi some new clothes. It was an outfit that Rei had worn before, that being a white shirt and a pair of pink overalls. “Here, these are clothes fitting an overgrown baby like you.”

Usagi, of course, didn’t object to this, but looked at Rei with a pleading expression. “Can you help dress me, please…?” She asked. Rei didn’t really want to do this, but she knew that she couldn’t really refuse. She helped Usagi take her onesie off, and then helped her into the shirt and overalls. “Alright, now that you’re all dressed, go out and get your stuff done. I don’t trust you out by yourself, but I have too much stuff to do around the house.”

And with that, Usagi was ushered out of the house, now out in the world all on her own, an overgrown baby expected to run errands all by herself. What could possibly go wrong?

Usagi had made it to the store without much of a hitch, and decided to just try and focus on getting what Rei had asked her to get, without getting distracted. Unfortunately, that was easier said than done, because the first thing Usagi saw upon walking into the store was the toy aisle, which she immediately began to gravitate towards. There were so many toys, and she had the money to buy all of them…! However, she quickly brought herself back to reality, and walked herself over to the produce aisle, grabbing all the fruits and vegetables Rei needed.

“Why does Rei-chan even need this stuff…? Fruits and veggies are gross…” She muttered to herself. Of course, she still picked up everything she needed, because she knew Rei would get mad at her if she didn’t. She also went to the diaper aisle and got extra diapers for herself, since she knew Rei was running out of them at home. And she might have grabbed… several toys for herself. Blocks and plushes and dolls and rattles. Everything she could see, she bought. She was sure Rei wouldn’t mind.

Once she was done at the store, and had paid for everything, she walked out, and then realized something. That was… All that Rei had asked her to do. She didn’t have anything else to do out in public anymore. But that was boring, and she wanted to stay out for a while longer despite herself, so she decided to explore a bit.

She saw lots of stores she could possibly go to. There was a game store that she could visit, a clothing store where she could buy more onesies to wear at home, and… An ice-cream store! It was settled, she was going in there.

Once she had stepped inside, she immediately went to the counter, and ordered a huge cone of ice cream, with at least 10 flavors stacked on top of each other onto a tiny cone. She walked out of the store the second it was handed to her, and began to eat it greedily, enjoying every last bit of the treat. She had made a good decision today.

Once she was done there, she decided that she might as well go home before Rei got suspicious of her being out for too long. She made it home in a matter of minutes, and was surprised to see Rei already there waiting for her.

“Oh, Rei-chan! How long have you been sitting there waiting for me?” Usagi asked, laughing nervously as she hid the bag of toys she had bought behind her back. She had been hoping she would have time to hide the toys from Rei before she found out, but apparently that wasn’t an option.

“I was waiting for you because you’ve been gone longer than you should’ve. You were supposed to go to one store, and that was it. And I see you bought way more stuff than you were told to. You even took a trip to the ice cream store, didn’t you?” Rei asked, pointing to the mess Usagi still had on her face.

“U-Uh… Well… I-It’s your fault for making me go out there by myself! I’m just a kid, what did you expect me to do?!” Usagi yelled, trying her hardest to shift the blame onto anyone else but her.

Rei sighed, and rubbed her temples for a bit before deciding to speak. “Whatever. As long as you got what I asked you to get, it doesn’t matter. I should’ve expected this.” She said. In response, Usagi held out the fruits and vegetables that Rei had sent her to get, smiling proudly as she did.

“Thank you. Now, go play with the new toys you bought for yourself. I’ll come to your nursery in a second.” Rei said, watching as Usagi quickly and happily ran off towards her room.

“Ugh, what am I going to do with that girl…?” Rei muttered, setting everything down in the kitchen before walking into Usagi’s nursery to see what the girl was doing. The first thing Rei would notice is that there was suddenly a very bad smell in the air, a smell that Rei knew all too well. “Usagi, are you serious? You just got home…” She muttered, which prompted a sheepish laugh from the other girl.

“Heheh, I guess that ice cream really went through me pretty quickly. C-Could you, uh… Y-You know…” Rei held up a hand to stop Usagi’s request short, knowing exactly what she wanted.

“I know what you want. Get onto the changing table.” Rei said, prompting Usagi to nod and lay down on top of the changing table without much protest. Once the girl had laid down, Rei took the overalls off of the girl, leaving her in nothing but a shirt and a diaper. Usagi’s diaper was untaped, and thrown away after being wrapped in several plastic bags, to prevent the smell from plaguing the room any longer. Rei then wiped Usagi up thoroughly, before placing a new diaper underneath her, powdering the girl up once more, and then taping the new diaper onto her. “Alright, there you go. Now, try not to use this one so quickly.”

Usagi nodded, and hopped off the changing table, going back to the pile of toys she had made in the middle of her room and picking up the blocks, beginning to play with them happily.

Rei couldn’t help but smile just a little bit at this. Usagi was immature, yes, but when she was just having fun, playing with her toys, she admittedly looked pretty cute. Deciding to leave the baby on her own for a bit so she could play with her toys, Rei left the room, walking off to go take care of what she needed to get done. Normally, she would ask Usagi for help, since she wanted the girl to stop being so immature, despite the way she was usually dressed…

But just this once, Rei would let Usagi just have her fun. After all, what kind of mother would she be if she didn’t?
